WELLINGTON HOSPITALITY GROUP SERVES 35,000 MEALS TO FPL WORKERS RESTORING POWER TO MILLIONS AFTER HURRICANE IRMA
Hours after Hurricane Irma hit Florida, the WHG disaster relief crew answered the call from WHG owners, Aaron and Julie Menitoff. Leaving their homes and families, many recently evacuated, Aaron and Julie mobilized chefs, cooks, kitchen prep staff, managers, servers, and their supply chain of purveyors, equipment and service suppliers. Staff and trucks converged at three FPL designated South Florida staging base camp sites in 24 hours.
It was all-hands- on-deck to set up kitchen and dining tents, mobile communications and begin preparing thousands of meals to feed hundreds of hungry and exhausted FPL linesmen working.
Day after day, the WHG crew unloaded trucks, cooked meals and cheerfully served the workers. After cleaning it all up to assure cleanliness, sanitation and organization, it was time to start over again. This was a 24/7 effort—calculating food and beverage product orders, replenishing fuel, monitoring refrigeration temperatures, and preparing hot breakfasts, box lunches and delicious dinner buffets. The WHG crew was proud that they were able to
contribute to their community!
